Flashback Friday 2/28

Lauren McClard and Genna Rump

It’s Flashback Friday! This week we’re taking a look at the thirteenth yearbook for Arapahoe High School: the 1976 Calumet.

The 1970’s were a time of new fashion trends: bell bottom pants, glasses became a fashion statement, and platform shoes made their first debut. While these new trends were developing, fashion staples of the 50s were still being worn, such as bobby socks.

Today, some of the fashion trends of the 1970s and early 2000s are coming back into style. The students of Arapahoe can be seen wearing flared pants, and barrettes from the 2000s. Meanwhile, new trends are constantly arising, such as the influx of yoga pants.

Do you think the fashion fads of today will come back into style decades from now? Every week we’ll look at Arapahoe’s past yearbooks for contrasts to the Arapahoe we know today. Be sure to check in every Friday to see what new flashbacks we find!
