Former Iowa State Athletes Dominating

Liam Rump, Journalist

In the last few days, former Iowa State alumni, David Montgomery and Talen Horton-Tucker have had great games. David Montgomery was a running back for Iowa State’s football team from 2016 to 2018. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL draft. This year is David Montgomery’s second year in the NFL, and this past Sunday, when the Bears faced the Texans, he ran for 113 yards and a rushing touchdown with only 11 rushing attempts! David Montgomery has been putting up numbers his whole career, and he proved it against the Texans. Hopefully, he can continue his greatness and become one of the best running backs in the league. He has the potential and is on a team that could really use a great running back. The other Iowa State athlete, Talen Horton-Tucker, was a shooting guard for the Iowa State basketball team in the 2018 season. He was drafted by the Orlando Magic in the 2nd round of the 2019 NBA draft, and on the same night he was drafted, Talen Horton-Tucker got traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Last Friday, December 11th, Talen Horton-Tucker scored 19 points, but on Sunday, December 13th, he scored 33 points! Talen Horton-Tucker is on a great team and will hopefully be a starter someday. In years to come, there will hopefully be more Iowa State athletes dominating in sports, and Iowa State will get more recognition for their sports programs.
