Lady Hoops on Fast Track to League Title

Jack Berning, Spear Writer

The Lady Warrior hoops team improved to 8-3 last night, collecting their second Centennial League win of the season versus the Eaglecrest Raptors. Aggressive defense and fast-paced transition offense led to a dominating 20 point victory. Leading scorers Jordyn Vega and Jennah Knaflec racked up the points, as Vega had the outside jumper going, with Knaflec attaining most of her points in the paint.

After losing their first league game to Grandview on January 7, the Warriors have rallied to two straight league wins, boasting their overall Centennial league mark to 2-1. On Friday night, January 16, the Warriors will face an Overland team which is traditionally in the cellar of the Centennial league.

Looking ahead to next week the Warriors will travel to Parker to take on Smoky Hill, another team that the Warriors should handle without much of an issue. Friday, Jan 24 the ladies will play one of their most important games of the entire season, as they will hit the road to take on long time foe Cherry Creek. Cherry Creek, currently riding a three-game winning streak, lost to the Warriors earlier this year in a pre-season tournament.
