Its playoff time for the women’s basketball team, posting a 19-4 regular season record, and earning a two seed in the state tournament. A huge surge down the stretch led to a second place finish in the Centennial league behind rival Cherry Creek, who also received a two seed.

“It was a really good season, but we’re not done yet,” said captain and scoring leader Jennah Knaflec, “we haven’t achieved anything yet, and we are really excited for an opportunity to make a run in the tournament.”

The ladies will receive a first round bye, then take on the winner of Liberty and Fruita Monument. Fruita (13-10) and Liberty (6-17) are both winnable games for the Warriors, as Liberty’s weak win-loss total prove to an inferior opponent. Fruita, although 13-10, posted that mark in the Southwestern league, widely known to be one of the weaker conferences in the state.

Although it may be easy to start out, the state tournament is not to be taken lightly. The girls will have to bring their A-game to make a run, but with Knaflec, Brewer, and Ziegler leading the way, anything is possible.
