Kylie Galen has had a lot of crap tossed in her lap lately. Her parents are getting a divorce for who the heck knows why. Her boyfriend broke up with her because she wouldn’t put out. And her grandmother died because . . . well, older people do that. But now, Kylie’s acquired a stalker and she hasn’t a clue what he wants or how to get rid of him . . . and she really wants to get rid of him because apparently, she’s the only one who sees him. Thinking she may be losing it, her parents send her off to see a psychologist who gets Kylie sent to Shadow Falls Camp. Kylie and her parents think it’s a camp for troubled teens.

They thought wrong.

Kylie’s surrounded by vampires, werewolves, fairies, witches, and shapeshifters. And if she believes what they tell her, she’s one of them. They’re just not sure exactly how she fits in. As Kylie struggles to cope with the realization that these creatures even exist and the fact that she might not be human, she’s got two hot guys, a werewolf, and a half-fairy vying for her attention. And they can just keep vying. Kylie’s determined that before she lets her heart lose in love, she needs to unearth the truth. What does the ghost want? Who can and can’t she trust? And most of all . . . What is she?

Long Summary, but the book is really great. A lot of the story focuses on the story of Kylie Galen, the main character, and figuring out what she is. Everyone at the camp knows that she is different because of her brain pattern, which all supernatural species are able to read. They say that every one species has its own brain pattern that people can read and that humans have a distinct pattern as well, and the only reason that it would be different is if they are supernatural or they have a brain tumor. Kylie is the only person at the camp with a pattern that no one can read, and that makes her the center of everyone’s attention.

First, this is a series that is pretty easy to get into. The characters in this book are very easy to love and get attached to. I deeply enjoyed the characters that slowly get involved with the main story. I enjoyed learning about most things worked throughout the book and how the different species got along. It goes into good details about how all of the characters interact with each other and about the powers that they all have.

Throughout the book, the camp counselor, Holiday, tries to help Kylie figure out what she is and it builds a very strong relationship. Holiday and Kylie become extremely close and it’s amazing to watch each of them interact with each other and grow to love each other. The relationships that are developed in this book are amazing to watch grow and develop as the book goes on.

The characters in the book show amazing development throughout the book. One of my favorites is Burnett, the rough ‘bad guy’ vampire in this book. He ends up showing a great amount of development that I enjoyed reading. I enjoyed so many of the characters and watching them develop. The development of the characters and the story in this book are amazing, they follow the flow of the story and they don’t develop too quick or too slow. Everything that happens in this book seems to be perfectly timed and is basically awesome.

Now, for the negatives. One of the original book cliches, a love triangle, occurred and it really irked me. As much as I hate it admit it, love triangles aren’t my cup of tea. Love triangles are used in most stories and they end up getting played out way too much. This series has the main love triangle that gets annoying towards the end but starts out pretty well. That was really my only problem with this book, it must be good or something…

Pros

Great Character development

Amazing plot

Good plotline

Humorous

Amazing Characters

Good romance

Cons

Love triangle that lasts a while

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I hope that everyone else will too!
