Girls Gymnastics Tumble into Their New Season

The LPS girls gymnastics team kicked off their season competing against Cherry Creek High School and Elizabeth High School at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, August 29, at Cherry Creek.

Out of the 22 gymnast on the team, 13 of them attend Arapahoe, including four freshmen, six sophomores, two juniors, and one senior.

The gym was loaded with excitement as the three teams competed. An athlete was always competing on one of the four events (floor, beam, uneven bars, vault) at any given time. Cheering filled the air as organized chaos occured all around the gym.

The Varsity team finished 3rd in the meet while JV finished 2nd. Individually, Hope Jones (Sophomore) finished 6th on Varsity bars and Aspen Fredericks (Sophomore) finished 6th on Varsity floor. Michaela Cain (Freshman) finished 4th on JV bars and 6th on JV floor.

“I was proud that even though my beam routine was really rough, I was still able to come back and put up a good score on floor.”

— Aspen Fredericks

When reflecting on her floor performance, Aspen Fredericks stated, “I was proud that even though my beam routine was really rough, I was still able to come back and put up a good score on floor.”

The next meet will take place at 6:00 pm, September 5, at Overland High School.
