Arapahoe Boys Soccer Win Warrior Invitational

We like winning, it’s fun.

— Coach Mark Hampshire

The Arapahoe Varsity Boys soccer team won the annual Warrior Invitational on Saturday, September 8th, with a 4-0 victory over the Littleton Lions.

A great team effort in the invitational led to 14 goals scored and none allowed. Despite the aggressive gameplay by Littleton with many fouls called, the Warriors dominated and took the victory. The Warriors played an incredible game on both offense and defense. Spencer Cobb’s presence in the goal combined with Zander Hahn’s great leadership lead to an unstoppable defensive combination. To add, the offense was relentless in the front third of the field. The first goal by the Warriors was scored by #18 Garrett Lyles in the 29th minute. The ball deflected off the Lion’s goalie and right onto the foot of Lyles.  Without hesitation, he perfectly placed the ball in the back of the net and secured the lead for the Arapahoe. The next goal was scored by Zach Westermen in the 21st minute of the second half with another beautifully placed goal to the bottom right of the net. The goals following were scored by Noah Carl and Ben Davis.

Cameron Gail scored a goal in minute 24, but the goal is taken back due to the call being offsides. There were several more offsides calls throughout the match. The Warriors refused to let this affect their gameplay.

ABK fans showed up in large numbers in order to support the team. The crowd was extremely loud and chanting back and forth with the competing Lion’s student section. The excitement and noise from the stands contributed to the upbeat play of the Warriors on the field.

Come and support the BOWS at their next game, Saturday, September 15th at 3:00 pm vs. Mountain Vista at Shea Stadium. Also, help pack the LPS Stadium stands on October 16th as they challenge the Cherry Creek Bruins.
