The number 1 ranked Warriors golf team heads into regional play this week on Wednesday at Murphy Creek Golf Course. They are ranked first just ahead of Valor, Fairview, and Regis.

We’ve dominated our league the last four years.

— Jake Ott

Arapahoe has won their league for the last four years led by their five seniors: Jack Tickle, Caleb Busta, Chris Johnell, Riley Rottschafer, and Jake Ott. We talked to Ott and he told us that “We’ve dominated our league the last four years.” He feels extremely confident about their chances at regionals. So far the team has played eight tournaments this year. Out of those eight they have won six of them.

How Regionals Work: The team chooses four golfers (they chose five in league) to play at Murphy Creek. After that they choose their best 3 scores and add those up. Obviously in golf the lower score is better. The top 2 teams and 20 individuals get to advance to the state competition.

What to look for from the Warriors:

Jack Tickle: He is one of the best putters on the team, he is expected to put up some low scores at regionals. He can get hot and he once scored a 66 at South Suburban Golf Course.

Caleb Busta: Caleb has state tournament experience from last year so he can know what to expect at these upcoming tournaments.

Chris Johnell: He has been playing very well lately and wants to keep that going in regionals.

Riley Rottschafer: Riley may have the longest drive on the team, this gives him an advantage on longer holes.

Regionals is this Wednesday for the team. They look to continue their good play and advance to the state tournament, which they’d like to win for the first time since 1988.

Score updates will be below:

Riley Rottschafer  -1     T1st

Jack Tickle             -1     T1st

The Arapahoe golf team will compete in the state tournament in October
