Arapahoe Golf Takes Second in State

Matt Luci, Reporter

This past week the Arapahoe golf team took second place in the State Championship at Pinehurst Country Club. Arapahoe had a very impressive showing putting up a +20 score, second to only Fairview. After graduating five seniors from the team last year, this new crop of Warriors is young and hungry. Sophomore Will Kates took home the individual state title with a final score of -3, which was six strokes better than second place. His score of 66 in the second round was four strokes better than anyone else in the tournament.

This is an exciting time for Arapahoe golf because all four members of the state team are expected to be on the team next year. Let’s take a look at these players:

Will Kates: Already has a state championship as a sophomore, very accurate putter.

Matthew Wilkinson: Placed 10th in state with a +8 score, hits the ball the farthest on the team

Max Zadvorny: Tied for 32nd in state with a +15 score

Graham Dzengdewski: While his score did not count for the team, his effort was much appreciated.
