What. A. Season.

Your Arapahoe Field Hockey Warriors had the best season in program history. The first year of the program was only four years ago and they finished fourteenth out of sixteen teams. They finished in the same place a year later. But last year the Warriors finished in ninth place. The top eight teams in the league get to go to playoffs.

This year the field hockey team had eight wins in the regular season. Every season, the team doubled their win count from the season before. They placed seventh this year and got into the playoffs for the first time. Four-time varsity player and senior captain Abbie Chalmers said this about how the field hockey program has grown, “We went from celebrating our first and only win of the season [three years ago], to celebrate our first time in the playoffs! I believe that there is a lot more to come from these girls”.

Only three years ago did the Varsity field hockey team have only one goal the whole season. This season they had another record-breaking 22 goals. Senior captain Megan England and Junior star Caroline Weiss lead the scoring with three goals on the season each. And Senior captain Amber Wennerstrom had a record 5 assists in the season.

With only four years into the program’s existence and making the playoffs in the fourth season, I believe the field hockey program will have a lot of success in the coming years.
