Wrestlers finish regular season, head to state tournament

On Friday, Feb.13, 14 varsity wrestlers will head to Smoky Hill for their regional competition.  The team had a solid finish to their regular season facing formidable opponents: losing in a tie-breaker to Cherry Creek, losing a tight one to Cherokee Trail (who beat Creek), then placing 5th out of 20 teams at a tournament at Thomas Jefferson.

They are hoping the tough opponents they faced recently have prepared them for the regional meet, where 16 teams converge and fight for the top four spots at each weight class.  The top four wrestlers in each region advance to the state meet, held Feb. 19 -21 at the Pepsi Center.

JV closed out their season with a second place finish in the Centennial League last Saturday.
