Diary of a Freshman Week 5

This week is full of family issues for me. I don’t know about anyone else, but my family problems are making high school hard.

It’s distracting coming home from school and not being able to do homework because you’re mom and her boyfriend are in a fight again, or you’re uncle is so intoxicated that you can’t go to sleep.

School is getting especially stressful. With all the homework and assignments, I can’t keep track of anything anymore. And we’re only 5 weeks into the school year!

In my English class, we spent an entire class period talking about problems, whether they be school, friend, or family orientated. My teacher kept saying the same thing over and over again, and it made me realize that I am not alone.

She continuously mentioned that:

I am worth it.

I am enough.

I am capable of love and belonging.

I can do this.

I can be vulnerable.

Be seen! Be present! Be impressive! Be you!

I think this is really important because it doesn’t just apply to my class or me, but everyone.
