Arapahoe Wrestling takes on Regional tournament
February 10, 2017
As the winter sports season comes to a close, the wrestling team heads up to Fountain-Fort Carson to compete in their regional. This will take place on Friday, February 10th and 11th.
The team feels confident heading into the tournament and they look to send as many wrestlers as they can to the state tournament starting February 16th at the Pepsi Center.
“We feel good,” senior captain Kyle Mackey said. “We have a very young team, so it is new to almost everyone but we are excited about it.”
Since the team is so young, they lack the experience that some teams have in the regional and state tournaments. The Warriors aren’t going to let that slow them down though. The team may be young, but they have unmatched determination and passion.
“It’s a team where everyone is always wanting to wrestle,” Mackey said. “They love what they’re doing more than any other wrestling team I’ve been a part of.”
Regardless, the team has made great strides this season and has impressed many early season doubters.
“Every meet we get stronger,” Mackey said. “There is improvement every second the team is on the mat.”
