On May 5, 2017, Maryland rapper known as Logic will release his third album called Everybody. The rapper has made sure to hype up the album by releasing a trailer for the album which takes place in a futuristic setting, releasing three singles, and occasionally playing snippets of other songs that haven’t released. Once again the artist Sam Spratt returned to create a masterpiece for Logic’s album. The cover art is inspired by the painting known as “The Wedding at Cana” by Paolo Veronese in 1563. The thing that makes this upcoming album so special is the potential it has to be the most impactful album of the year. The singles he has released so far are “Everybody”, “1-800-273-8255 (feat. Alessia Cara & Khalid)”, and “Black SpiderMan (feat. Damian Lemar Hudson)”. Of all the rap albums that have released this year, none of the songs compare in significance about social issues, then these three singles Logic has released.

“Everybody” is about Logic’s own experience of racism being a biracial person. He explains how white and black people have treated him in the past by saying, “White people told me as a child, as a little boy, playin with his toys, I should be ashamed to be black and some black people look ashamed when I rap, like my great granddaddy didn’t take a whip to the back.” This explains his personal experiences with being discriminated against based purely on his skin color and that he has a black dad. He then goes on to say how he wishes people would stop caring about someone’s race and just realize we’re all equal human beings. The chorus is perhaps the most important part of the song. Logic writes, “Everybody people, everybody bleed, everybody need something, everybody love, everybody know, how it go…” he repeats that line once more to show how equal we all are and that we all go through the same things.

“Black SpiderMan (feat. Damian Lemar Hudson)” was the second single released by Logic. The song itself is very upbeat and gives off a good feeling, but it is even better with the music video. The song seems to be more therapeutic for Logic as he talks about coming to accept himself as biracial while at the same time sending the message to listeners to not be ashamed to be themselves, just be who you are. This is a song that everyone can listen and relate to no matter someone’s race, religion, or sexual orientation.

“1-800-273-8255 (feat. Alessia Cara & Khalid)” is the first song released so far that doesn’t have to do with race. Most people won’t understand why a phone number is the title of the song, but it is actually the number for the national suicide prevention hotline. Many of Logic’s fans have expressed how important his music is to their life and how it even saved some people from harming themselves. That was his biggest inspiration for writing this song. The first hook and verse are from the perspective of someone wanting to commit suicide but they’re on the phone with someone trying to convince them that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. The second hook and second and third verses are the phone operator sung by Alessia Cara and Logic explaining the reasons to live. The song ends with the suicidal person realizing they want to live and Khalid sings about pushing through this dark state of mind.

The album will drop on midnight May 5, it includes a total of 13 tracks plus a bonus documentary about the making of the album. Everybody will look to connect to people of different backgrounds and cultures to become the most impactful and relatable album of the year.
