Summer at Cheyenne Frontier Days

Henry Kline, Reporter

It is almost that time of year again, summer vacation. Yet for many the final months are a long push to get to three months of nothing. People all of a sudden have so much time on their hands they no longer know what to do with all of it. This is a rundown of one of my favorite summer events: Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Who: With a variety of events for people of all ages, Cheyenne Frontier Days is the perfect way to get out with the family, friends, or by yourself if that is what you please.

What: Cheyenne Frontier Days is a festival to celebrate the Western Culture in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It is best known for having the world’s largest outdoor rodeo.

When: Cheyenne Frontier Days runs from Tuesday July 18th through Sunday July 30th.

Where: The Festival is held across the city, with events in downtown (pancake breakfast, parade, etc.), at the Rodeo’s stadium/fairgrounds (Concerts and rodeo), and even in the sky (Thunderbird Show)!

Why: Cheyenne Frontier Days is an amazing chance to get outdoors and learn about the historic roots of middle America. The rodeo is a can’t miss, with everything from mutton busting to bullriding it is an event that appeals to all ages, and if you are craving cotton candy and sunflower seeds, it is the perfect place to get both. Headlining concerts like Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, and Thomas Rhett are a blast but tickets sell fast so you have to snatch them up early. Finally, whether you are grabbing free pancakes at the pancake breakfast, or visiting the Old West Museum, you are sure to have a good time, so start booking your trip before hotels fill up. You will not want to miss out on Cheyenne Frontier Days.
