Boys Basketball falls to 5th ranked Grandview

Jake Reed, Spear CEO

It’s no secret that the boys basketball team has struggled in inter-league play this season, with a 1-8 standing against Centennial opponents and a 4-14 record overall. On Wed. Jan 31, the Warriors fell to 5th ranked Grandview in a 59-43 contest. They snapped an 8 game losing streak dating back to December with a win over Mullen last Monday, and they will look to finish the season strong.

Carter Sturgeon, 11, lead the Warriors on scoring offense with 16 points on a 44% field goal percentage. The Warriors struggled overall in terms of shooting, with drastically lower FGM percentages than the Grandview offense (34% to 55%, respectively). Along with 15 turnovers given up, 8 of which were steals, the game ended fairly one sided.

The Spear will broadcast Saturday’s contest against the 20th ranked Eaglecrest Raptors, with tip-off starting a 2:00pm.
