On Saturday, February 10, 2018, the Heritage LPS hockey team defeated Aspen High School in overtime. The game stayed consistent throughout with even scoring on both sides. The first period ended with a score 1-1 and a goal by Jakob Boos. The second period showed a defensive offense on Heritage’s side with the puck only occasionally entering their zone. However, this was not enough to stop Aspen from scoring. Heritage also played very aggressive in the second and racked up two penalties, one of which carried into the third. The second period ended with a score of 2-2 with a goal from Cory Kennedy. The third period of play proved to be very stressful. Aspen racked up multiple penalties resulting in 5 on 3 play, in favor of Heritage, twice. However, Aspen’s defense rallied and the score remained tied 2-2 at the end of the third. It was Kory DiPonio who finally scored in OT winning the game for Heritage with a score of 3-2.
