Girls Swim and Dive Season Comes to an End

Grace Cadorette, Journalist

As the 2019 Lady Water Warriors season comes to an end, seniors are holding on to their last two meets: A-league and State. The team is ranked 3rd but our dive team is hoping to come out on top again with Franny Cable and Kirry Belitz undefeated so far this season. Arapahoe will host A-League this Friday and Saturday as a hope to sneak in a few last State qualifiers. Ten swimmers are already state qualifiers and include Emily Abernathy (12), Megan Bergstrom (10), Harris Galvin (9), Miri Griffin (10), Marina Huster (9), Samantha Packer (11), Ashley Tellinger (10), Gabreece Van Anne (12), Lyndsey Wehr (10), and Anna Wetzel (11). Franny Cable (12), Kirry Belitz (12), Morgan Hampton (9), and Kyndall Tatum (10) are the divers who have qualified.

We sat down with 2018 Girls Dive State Champion Franny Cable to see what this year’s A-League and State meets have in store. Franny is very excited but sentimental about her last meets coming up and is feeling the pressure to keep performing as top dog but can’t wait for her hard work to pay off. Along with the 2018 State win from last year, Franny is also an All- State diver and was 2017 State Runner-Up. Franny plans to dive at the University of Kansas next year.

Come out to cheer on the Lady Water Warriors and send the seniors off with a bang this Friday at 4:00 and Saturday, February 1st from 9:00am to 6:00pm at the Arapahoe Pool. GO WARRIORS!
