Presenting the Whole Election: Trump Wins Presidency

I didn’t think I would need to write an article on Hillary winning the election, as the polls said she would. Instead, she didn’t, and the nation is shocked. This came from out of nowhere, and everyone is still figuring out how she managed to lose. However, this should have been expected. Clinton was overconfident in some states, like Wisconsin and Michigan, not spending much money there, and giving Trump the states.

The media really overlooked the idea that Trump actually had a chance. The Huffington Post gave Trump a 2% chance of winning, and The New York Times only gave him a 15% chance. They wanted Hillary so much they refused to accept the idea that Trump had a chance. Trumps momentum in states like Florida, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, and New Hampshire couldn’t be stopped. He won all of those states (New Hampshire was still counting when he won) giving him the election. Hillary Clinton spent so much time trying to take states from Trump she didn’t consider the idea that Trump could take states from her. Hillary was so confident in her win that she didn’t give a concession speech, probably because she didn’t have one. She did accept the election results, by calling Trump and conceding the presidency.

The midwest has always belonged to the republicans, and the east coast has always belonged to the democrats. Getting those states alone won’t clinch the presidency, so swing states are crucial. Hillary did not focus enough on the swing states, so she lost them and the election.

This campaign was hard fought, but there can only be one winner, and Trump must have wanted it more. The race has ended, and the turtle has officially upset the hare. This column must end now, so let’s hope Trump is a good president!
