LPS Hockey Mid-Season Update

Your LPS/Heritage Varsity hockey team has played impressively so far in the season.

Half way through the regular season, the team is currently polling 6th in the state according to a weekly poll conducted by CHSAA Now. This is up three places from their preseason ranking at No. 9. Their RPI (rating percentage index) puts them 4th in the state. They are 1st in their division with a record of 8-2.

Last weekend the team traveled to Minnesota to compete in the Wayzata JGA High School Invitational Tournament. They competed against 11 other teams from around the country. Heritage won the Silver Championship.

Of the 24 players on the team, 11 of them are from Arapahoe. Senior Dartagnan Barson and Sophomore Ty Doan are among the team’s top scorers with six goals each.

There are still nine games remaining in the regular season. However, based on trends from the first half of the season, including high scoring games and a low goals against averages, a strong playoff run is likely in the team’s future.

This weekend, Varsity will play two away games against Kent Denver and Castle View. The Eagles will play their next home game on February 1, against Kent Denver at South Suburban Ice Arena at 6:30 pm.
