Music Therapy

Music+Therapy

Mental health can be a serious issue, and certainly is with kids our age. We all have our ways of coping, healthy, and unhealthy, but there are other ways to improve your mental health and here is one of them.

A method of therapy I saw that seemed super interesting and I wanted to write about is Music Therapy. It is a type of therapy that can help a person’s heart rate, blood pressure, stress levels, and sleep quality. It is officially with a “Music Therapist,” but listening to music can be something that we use for free, and without a therapist, for just as many benefits.

Music has healing power. It has the ability to take people out of themselves for a few hours.

— Elton John

Music can do a lot for us. It can be something fun, interesting, inspiring, or helpful. Other than boosting energy and providing comfort for people in pain, music is helpful psychologically as well. According to Psychology Today, music can:

  • Lift your mood
  • Reduce anxiety and depression
  • Regulate and balance emotions
  • Assist in processing traumatic events

These are all great benefits to listening to music, and if it is something you don’t do, give it a try! Music is diverse, beautiful and has many physical and mental benefits to it as well.
