It all started in 2010 on a British singing competition called the X Factor. Five boys from across the country, and Ireland, set on becoming the next best thing. A man, who shall not be named, decided that these talented singers should be put together to form One Direction. Little did they know, they would go on to become the biggest boy band in the world. The band known as One Direction went on to create record breaking hits, have one of their original members, Zayn Malick, leave, and finally go on a hiatus in 2015. All five members have gone on to achieve accomplished solo careers, their band and music still has a place in the hearts of many. So here is our personal ranking of every one direction song: 

1. Temporary Fix’ – Made in the A.M. – (2015)

On their last album, this song allowed the band to explore more “exciting” concepts of love and one night stands. The song retains the boyish charm of the band, while being more mature. Plus, who doesn’t love hearing Harry Styles sing his iconic verse of this song.

2. ‘Little Black Dress’ – Midnight Memories – (2013)

This showstopper is nothing short of a power-pop showstopper. Call me bias, but the mix of all the boys’ voices in the song was a perfect choice. 

Fun fact: This is the only 1D song without any solos. 

3 ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ – Four – (2014)

Where do I even start? If you want a catchy, I can’t stop replaying it, type of song: this is the one.  Although the title can raise questions, it is overshadowed by the wonderful lyrics and instrumentals of this song. 

Extra note: If you too love this song, I highly recommend this audio edit which layers the vocal of ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ with the instrumentals of ‘Wicked Games by The Weekend’. 

4. ‘Where Do Broken Hearts Go’ – Four – (2014)

From the intro of this song, you can tell it is going to be a whole experience. From the slow build build to the ballad-like chorus, the song is perfect to scream in your car with your iced chai latte. Does that seem too specific? 

5. ‘Right Now’ – Midnight Memories – (2013)

I cannot hear this without thinking of a fan project during one of their 2014 concerts where fans color coordinated sections in order to create a giant irish and british flag. If this sounds absurd, it’s because it is. But the song is a wonderful look about longing for a different reality, wishing for the one you want the most.  

6 ‘Night Changes’ – Four – (2014)

Night Changes is hands down one of the most relatable songs in their album Four. It has such beautiful meaning in the song focusing on the idea that even though everything is changing all the time it will never change these two people. It also created one of the saddest but heartwarming 1D songs. 

7 ‘Drag Me Down’ – Made in the A.M. – (2015)

Let me just say this song is an ultimate hype song. It has made many appearances on most of my workout playlists. Not to mention how great they all sound it just has the positive and ability to make you feel a little more confident. It has scream-worthy car vibes written all over it. 

8 ‘Olivia’ – Made in the A.M. – (2015)

Whenever I ask anyone if they know any 1D songs this is the one that comes up the most. Written by Harry Styles in 2015 it has become one of the most popular songs in their albums. Though one of the more bubblegum-pop songs on their newer albums, it still stands as one of their most memorable songs. 

9.‘Fool’s Gold’ – Four – (2014)

This makes me wanna cry, a lot, in a dark room, with ice cream, lots of it. 

10 ‘They Don’t Know About Us’ – Take Me Home – (2012)

This song is oddly something I would play in a psychological thriller film. It gives me chills and makes me wanna have a secret relationship and cause a lot of drama. I LOVE DRAMA. Especially in a song that was written by a boy band. It reminds me of Y/N wattpad fanfics.
