NFL Championship Games Preview and Prediction

John Mowle, Sports Analyst

The NFL Conference Championship games are this Sunday and there is a lot of excitement for these games.

The first game of the day is the NFC Championship between the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

This game is intriguing as rookie quarterback Brock Purdy leads the 49ers into Philadelphia. Brock Purdy is the first rookie quarterback to start in a conference championship game since Mark Sanchez did for the New York Jets in 2009.

Rookie quarterbacks are 0-4 in Conference Championship games and Brock Purdy is looking to become the first to win one and he is in a great opportunity to do so with superstars like Christian Mccaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle on offense to help him get the win.

On the Eagles side they have one of the most well rounded rosters in the NFL led by quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles finished the season with the best record in the NFL at 14-3.

The last time the Eagles made it to the NFC Championship, they won the game and went on to win the Super Bowl and they hope to do so again.

We move on to the AFC Championship Game where the Cincinnati Bengals will go into Kansas City to play the Chiefs.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is a shocking 3-0 against the consensus best quarterback Patrick Mahomes in his career.

This is a rematch of the AFC Championship Game from last year where the Bengals beat the Chiefs in overtime 27-24.

The Bengals have one of the best offenses in the league with Joe Burrow, Joe Mixon, Ja’marr Chase, and Tee Higgins. But with an injured offensive line they are going to need to have good games to have a chance at winning.

The Chiefs are no rookies when it comes to playing in the AFC Championship as this is the 5th year in a row where the game has been played in Kansas City.

The Chiefs are 2-2 in these games but with an injured Patrick Mahomes who suffered a high ankle sprain during last week’s contest between the Jaguars.

He will be starting the game but this will affect his mobility which is a big part of what makes him the best quarterback.

The Chiefs offense will need to step up if they want a chance to win this game.

The Eagles are currently favored to win by 2.5 points .

The Chiefs are currently favored to win by 1.5 points even with an injured Mahomes.

My prediction for the NFC is 49ers win 24-17

My prediction for the AFC is Bengals win 30-24
