Colorado Avalanche First Round Preview

John Mowle, Sports Analyst

The Colorado Avalanche are back in the playoffs and start off their title defense against the Seattle Kraken.

The Colorado Avalanche have had a roller coaster of a season with constant injuries throughout the line up but a hot streak in the final weeks of the season clinched the Avs with the top seed in the central division.

The Avalanche are entering game 1 with a fully healthy line up besides for captain Gabriel Landeskog who has not played a game this entire season and has been listed out for the entirety of the playoffs which will be a huge challenge for the team to go through the playoffs without their captain.

Even with all of their challenges throughout the season, they are still favorites to come out of the west in these playoffs on the backs of career seasons from players like Nathan Mackinnon who had 111 points in just 71 games this season or Mikko Rantanan who had an Avalanche record 55 goals this season.

But the Avalanche don’t have an easy task as they have to take on Seattle who is led by rookie Matty Beniers and 40 goal scorer Jared Mccann.

The Kraken have a very deep roster with lots of dangerous scorers throughout the lineup and lots of playoff experience.

This will be a very high paced and high scoring series as both teams don’t have very elite goaltending so this should be a very exciting series.
