Selena Gomez – Revival – October 9

Following the release of singles “Good for You” and “Same Old Love,” Selena Gomez’s upcoming album Revival is due to release October 9. As the singer’s second solo album after the end of her band “Selena Gomez and the Scene,” there are many new themes throughout the record. The themes include her past relationships and friendships ending, and new romances along with her life in media. Though some of the songs will be heartfelt ballads, the album is a statement of her confidence. Expected with the new album is a new ‘adult’ sound, as heard in the previously released singles. Transitioning from ‘teen pop’ to ‘adult pop’, with the use of minimalistic sounds, the musical style of Selena Gomez’s new album will be exciting to hear.

Pentatonix – Pentatonix – October 16

Grammy winners and platinum album holders Pentatonix are back with their self titled album, due to release October 16. Following their albums PTX Vol. 1, PTX Vol. 2, PTX Vol. 3, PTXmas and the re-released Christmas album That’s Christmas to Me, this will be the first Pentatonix album featuring all original material. Pentatonix is an a capella group, who came into the industry through the a capella singing competition Sing Off. After winning, they moved to Hollywood, and began recording covers of popular songs and making YouTube videos. Recently, they went on a world tour called “On My Way Home,” lasting from February to June, with breaks between each leg. Shortly after, they joined Kelly Clarkson on her “Piece by Piece” tour. After the new album releases, we can hopefully expect a headlining tour next year.

Deerhunter – Fading Frontier – October 16

Indie rock group Deerhunter are due to release their seventh studio album October 16. The four-piece band have described their music as ‘ambient punk’, however their music ranges from different styles of rock to some variations of pop elements. All songs on Fading Frontier, with an exception of one, were written by lead singer Bradford Cox. Deerhunter formed in 2001, which originally consisted of Bradford Cox and drummer/keyboardist Moses Archuleta. By 2005, the members were Bradford Cox, Moses Archuleta, Lockett Pundt and Josh Fauver. The band has remained the same since 2013 when the bassist, Josh Fauver, was replaced by Josh McKay, who is still in the band today.

5 Seconds of Summer – Sounds Good Feels Good – October 23
Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer will be releasing their second studio album Sounds Good Feels Good on October 23. The band released leading single “She’s Kinda Hot” on July 17 and a music video released in early August, along with an accompanying EP. With the preorder, two other songs “Fly Away” and “Jet Black Heart” are available to download. 5 Seconds of Summer, or 5SOS, was created in 2011 on YouTube. They joined Hot Chelle Rae on their “Whatever” world tour in 2012, and One Direction on their “Take Me Home” tour in 2013 and “Where We Are” tour the year after. This year, they had their first major headlining world tour “Rock Out With Your Socks Out.” All of the band members contributed to the album. All of the songs were written by one of the members or the whole group. Although there has not been talk of a tour for the new album, it is likely we will see them on the road next year.
