“We used to go to Lake Powell as a family…always an adventure. One of my scariest memories was when we were crossing the main channel at Lake Powell in our house boat and there were waves crashing over the top of it, which is about 514 feet tall. I was maybe 8 and my dad had all of us put on lifejackets and he had a knife ready to cut our speed boat. I thought we were gonna die so that was pretty scary. But, at the same time I would go back there in a heartbeat; it was probably the best vacation ever.”

“I’m gonna graduate early and then on my semester off I’m gonna travel…everywhere. I have it all planned out. First, I’m gonna go to Ireland, then the United Kingdom, then Prussia, then Russia, then India, then South Korea, then Japan, then Australia, and back. I have a job and I’ve been saving up for it. My parents are nervous and terrified. But, I’m doing it. I’m most excited to see Japan because I just love everything I hear about it and the culture sounds incredible.”

“In middle school my family had financial issues and my parents were going through a divorce. For a while we didn’t know what we would do next, everything was going wrong. We moved from house to house and for a while I didn’t talk to my dad at all and he was M.I.A.

Things got a lot better. My parents are together now and my dad found a much deeper faith in God than he had ever experienced before that time. He is the leader of our family. We had to go through a rough patch to get where we are today. I learned that there is always a silver lining in every situation.”
